Season is a dynamic Bharatanatyam artiste based in Chennai. Known for his energy and stylized movements, he is adept at effectively connecting with the audience. He is blessed with a distinct sensitivity towards aesthetics.
Hailing from the Palakkad district of Kerala, Season’s initial training in Bharatanatyam started under his paternal uncle,
Shri Chittur Babu. He received the title of Kalapratibha from the Kerala District Youth Festival at a young age. He joined Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai after his schooling. At Kalakshetra, Season had the opportunity of undergoing rigorous training with imminent gurus and scholars, as well as touring and performing as part of the Kalakshetra Foundation. After graduating from Kalakshetra, Season pursued advanced training under the tutelage of the renowned dancer choreographer, Shri Sheejith Krishna. He was one of the core members of Sheejith Krishna’s repertory, Sahrdaya Foundation, and an integral part of his dance productions like Sadrshyam, Shiva Panchankam, Pravaha and Don Quixote, touring extensively within India and abroad. Since 2018, Season has been an active member of the internationally acclaimed Spanda Dance Company led by the revered Bharatanatyam exponent, Padmashri Leela Samson. He performs regularly with Spanda, receiving invaluable guidance from Leela Akka. Currently, he is also honing his skills under Shri Rakesh KP.
As a soloist, Season has performed at esteemed festivals and sabhas like Krishna Gana Sabha, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Pallava Festival (Chennai), the Double Bill Concert Series at India International Centre (Delhi), Mathry Festival (Trivandrum), among others. He recently directed and presented a production called ‘Dvitvam’ at various venues in London, UK which was very well appreciated.
As part of celebrated dance companies, Season has performed at prestigious festivals worldwide. Some of his significant performances have been at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts - Washington D.C., USA, the National Centre for Performing Arts - Mumbai, Konark Festival - Odisha, The Music Academy - Chennai, the Esplanade - Singapore, Miami University - USA, University of Dalton - USA, Sadhguru’s Isha Foundation - Coimbatore, Spanda 25, Kamani Auditorium - Delhi, Chowdiah Memorial Hall - Bangalore, multi-city tours of USA, Reunion Island, Mauritius, Malaysia, among many others.
Season has been teaching Bharatanatyam for over a decade, and has students training under him from across the world. He is also an able nattuvanar, choreographer and stage designer. Season has worked on stage design for dance and theatre productions. He has worked with renowned playwright and theatre director Gowri Ramnarayan’s JustUS Theatre Repertory in a variety of capacities as a dancer, actor, photographer and member of the set design & production team, on projects like Sarpa Sutra, Flame of the Forest, Yashodhara, and Night’s End.
